Meat 'n Milk & Chicken Wings

Recently took my SMICHA (rabbinical studies) to a whole new level, basically instead of just one hour a day I'm doing 2 or 3 hours, feels like I'm in yeshiva again only this time with a shorter attention span. Not that learning about milk and meat isn't interesting... Not that... It isn't... Interesting?

Things To know...

I always thought that once I started learning smicha (basar B'chalav) I would start eating kosher, but after learning the laws I came to realize that I have been eating kosher all along. (j/k for those who don't know me)

After learning the Laws of Kosher (basar B'chalav/milk and meat) you come to realize that what ever you though was forbidden and non-kosher is actually permitted. After learning the laws of shabbos however, you come to realize that whatever you thought was permitted is actually prohibited.

If you were to go into burger king and eat a cheese burger, it will not be a transgression of milk and meat together, since it is already transgressing the sin of eating non-kosher meat(niveilah) the sin of milk & meat is only if both are kosher.

Off to study now, later y'all.

After learning smicha I learned a very important thing: if you slaughter a chicken and you find an egg inside that egg is .... to be replaced by 18 more from walmart for $1.59

Firstly he clarified that the meat was kosher, and the laws of milk and meat only truly apply to when they are cooked together not when they are placed together.

Eating milk and meat together is a Rabbinical prohibition. Eating non-Kosher meat is a biblical prohibition. In such a case there is only one transgression.

Bottom line its a great deal, two sin's for the price of one!

More on Kashrut.

God: And remember, Moses, in the laws of keeping Kosher, never cook a calf in its mother's milk. It is cruel.

Moses: So you are saying we should never eat milk and meat together.

God: No, what I'm saying is, never cook a calf in its mother's milk.

Moses: Oh Lord, forgive my ignorance! What you are really saying is we should wait six hours after eating meat to eat milk so the two are not in our stomachs.

God: No, Moses, listen to me. I am saying, don't cook a calf in its mother's milk!!!

Moses: Oh, Lord! Please don't strike me down for my stupidity! What you mean is we should have a separate set of dishes for milk and a separate set for meat and if we make a mistake we have to bury that dish outside....

God: Moses, do whatever you want..........

The law is that nveilah (a COW that was not shechted) is forbbiden for basar v`chalov just like kosher meat. Only non kosher ANIMALS meat (pig, lion...) is not forbidden for basar v`chalov. Burger King is most of the time COW`S meat.

Your cousin that is going to Hawaii in a couple of days and knows his smicha :-)
