My favorite "BODEGA"

Everyone has got their bodega, ya know that little store that you can always count on to be open anytime, ( for me I'm talking about the 2am beer run) and not feel the least bit bad about waking up the person sleeping behind the counter/window.

This is my favorite one, located on empire and Brooklyn and not owned my Arabs so I don't have to worry about getting grumbled at, or supporting Hamas by buying from 'em.

This place used to be Hispanic owned but was bought of by AA's and thank g-d they actually are open 24/7 thanks to the night (AM) window.

What really got me to post about this was the (hand written) sign that was recently put up by someone who works in the store and almost had me rolling on the store when I read it,(ok, so I was slightly tipsy at the time, but) I really had a hard time keeping a straight face and holding back my comments as I ordered from the window, figured I would post a picture of the store and the sign so you all can see for yourselves. See if you can find the mistOOks.

HUH? Care to explain?
Perhaps you just dont get it.

If you cant get the two things that are wrong with the picture, then just say so and I will point them out to you.

I hate to admit it but all I can see wring, is the word window written backwards.

perhaps he was a little tipsy himself (or just tired) when he made the sign.

OK so mistOOk number one is of course window spelled backwards (oh and even if anyone wants to say that the marker simply went through the paper and they put it on wrong, then the time should be backwards as well, yet it isnt so something is backward there!)

2. its a freakin night window! which means that it opens at 12 at midnight and 12 at night it 12AM not PM!

A quote to the moron who wrote the sign; "everyone has the right to be stupid, but your abusing the privilege!"

I stick by my original opinion; both, the "wondiw," and the 12 pm are meant to be funny. I don't think they are actually mistakes.

Nah, I definitely don't think the sign is there for public humor. Well assuming that the guy behind the counter wrote the sign, i guess thats why he's behind the counter... I think he got confused and thought the window is like a mirror, so the sign would look backwards if he didnt write it backwards. Ahhh man. He probably thought he was being brilliant when he wrote it, but he actually was being the worlds biggest dumbass. And ye, dovid i think the AM PM thing was just an error. Who would actually write up a sign just to humor people?

Wait, you work there?

DOVID: I understand its good to judge favorably, but sometimes...

FOOTCHES: I dont suffer from insanity, I enjoy every second of it!

ANON: thanks, my point exactly (well almost;) also its a woman that works behind the counter and she doesnt exactly reflect brighness or a sense of humor, au contraire, she is always grumpy and upset looking...

DOOUBLE SPICY... ERF ERF :p

Its funny how I assumed it was a man responsible for such levels of stupidity. Thats just the femenist in me. Poor lady. I should go give her a visit next time I come around...and maybe bring her a 'hooked on phonics'

Excellent picture taking. I had a good laugh and I was fully sober.

Also funny how you would so quickly assume it was a man... and yet right after that you spell feminist wrong :p talking about hooked on phonics... Oh I'm so evil, sorry just teasing;)

I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

L'chaim to being to sober!

Not trying to insult you here (hey you are anonymus after all) but perhapt you should try www.onelook.com there is a reason i linked it on my blog (under For All OTnicks) I use it all the time;)

"My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places."

"I hold that a man has as much right to spell a word as it is pronounced as he has to pronounce it the way it ain't spelled"

This is too funny. While we're all harassing each other about the spelling. Why don't we all look at our own posts and spellcheck our own comments before publishing them.

Chasidisheshaigitz, you might want to check over that last comment you put up.

Also, as mentioned before, perhaps anonymus was misspelling purposely. (I'mnot negating the idea that you may have also been)

Actually- their soda always tastes like someone shoved tobacco under the cap... ewww, and like the stale old kind of tobacco.

Their are always people of dubious character there. Although I live right around the corner, i'd much rather go to Nostrand for anything I need.
